According to police reports, the twins were allegedly lured into an uncompleted building by 27-year-old Aniekan Uko as they returned from church on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Investigators believe Uko drugged, assaulted, and murdered the young girls, with strong suspicions that the killings were for ritualistic purposes.
"The suspect may have hypnotized or lured them into the building," an investigator revealed, detailing how the girls were given drugged drinks before the horrific acts were committed.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests, stating that Uko was apprehended following credible intelligence. Three others, including a native doctor and a teenager, are also in custody.
Uko has reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming he was acting on instructions from the native doctor to fulfill ritual requirements. He allegedly told police he witnessed the native doctor's "success" with other clients who provided human remains.
Police recovered disturbing evidence from the scene, including a bottle containing the victims' blood, a kitchen knife used in the murder, a can of "black bullet" used to drug the girls, and a spoon used to collect their blood. The twins' bodies have been taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
"The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assures the public that the suspects will face justice," Iringe-Koko stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to uncover any further details or accomplices.
This shocking incident has sent waves of grief and outrage through the community, prompting calls for swift and decisive action to bring all those responsible to justice.
