Rivers State Governor Fubara Shares Tinubu’s Directive for Peace with Wike

Suspended Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara revealed that President Bola Tinubu instructed him to reconcile with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid their ongoing political rift. Fubara referred to Wike as his “Oga” during a public address to his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The feud between Fubara and Wike began shortly after Fubara assumed office in 2023, escalating to the point where Tinubu declared a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, leading to Fubara’s suspension. Recently, Tinubu facilitated a reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together the conflicting parties.

Following the meeting, Wike announced that peace had been restored in Rivers State, with all sides agreeing to collaborate. However, Fubara described the reconciliation as a “bitter and heavy” necessity during his speech to supporters, known as the “Simplified family.” He urged them to embrace the peace accord for the sake of the state’s stability and progress.

Fubara stated, “After our meeting before May 29th, we’ve held several discussions, including one with President Tinubu, who was clear: ‘I want you and your Oga to settle.’”
