Port Harcourt, Rivers State – In a historic landslide victory, the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the Rivers State local government elections held on Saturday, securing 20 out of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs). The results were announced by Dr. Michael Odey, Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to secure the remaining three LGAs. The newly elected chairpersons were sworn in on Monday, September 1, and received their certificates of return during a ceremony at the RSIEC headquarters.
