Port Harcourt, Rivers State – On Monday, September 1, 2025, the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Foundation empowered 60 individuals, including widows, wives, and children of fallen Nigerian Army heroes, by distributing make-up kits, starter packs, and vocational tools at the OPM Multi Free Skills Acquisition Centre in Mbodo, Aluu, Port Harcourt.
The initiative, led by His Royal Majesty King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries and President of OPM Foundation, aimed to honor and support families of soldiers who died in active service. The beneficiaries underwent a six-month intensive training program at the OPM Multi Free Skills Acquisition Centre, where they acquired skills in sewing, ICT, catering, and paint production. At the graduation ceremony, they received sewing machines, laptops, ovens, gas cookers, and paint production materials to start their own businesses.
“This is our way of encouraging the Nigerian Army and supporting the widows of those who died defending our nation,” said King Apostle Chibuzor. “By training and empowering them with tools to start their businesses, we help them become self-reliant.”
The OPM Multi Free Skills Acquisition Centre, operational for over 15 years, has trained more than 50,000 Nigerians in various vocational skills, with certificates recognized globally through approval from the Ministry of Labour and Productivity. The centre welcomes both Christians and Muslims, offering over 25 free vocational courses. Notably, trainees in the rigging department have secured offshore jobs and opportunities in Saudi Arabia through OPM’s arrangements.
For over a decade, OPM Foundation has funded transformative initiatives through church offerings and tithes, without government support. These include two free specialist hospitals providing surgeries, 37 tuition-free schools, a free school for autism and Down syndrome, a tuition-free girls’ technical college, 18 free estates, and 9,000 local and international scholarships.
King Apostle Chibuzor called on state and federal governments, international organizations, and multinationals to partner with OPM Foundation. “I invite you to tour our facilities and witness the impact of our work,” he said.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, his wife, and senior army officers, alongside OPM’s President of Divine Distributors and Director of Welfare, Dr. Mrs. Maurine Chukwu.
Major General Ejim-Emekah praised King Apostle Chibuzor, noting that the empowerment aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s philosophy emphasizing the welfare of soldiers and their families. “I’ve visited during the training and was impressed. This initiative resonates with the Nigerian Army’s commitment to being the people’s army,” he said.
The Chairperson of the 6 Division Chapter of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association also commended the program, stating, “This empowerment will enable women and girls to live purposeful lives.”
