The Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has reportedly detained Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and founder of Life Forte Chapel in Port Harcourt, in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The arrest follows the interception of a phone conversation between Dr. Gbeneol and the former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo. Security sources claim the pair discussed hiring Israeli nationals for the operation and planned to seek funding from Governor Siminalayi Fubara. While Dr. Gbeneol has reportedly been in custody for two weeks, authorities are currently searching for Dr. Danagogo, who is said to have gone into hiding. Force Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the detention, noting that investigations are ongoing.
