Late Loolo’s widow, Bulabari Loolo, later emerged as the APC candidate and won the February 21 bye-election.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, is expected to inaugurate the two members-elect soon.
In a statement issued Tuesday via his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, Governor Fubara didn't just acknowledge the results—he validated them. Describing the victories as "well-deserved," the Governor noted that the popularity of the candidates within their local communities was the deciding factor.
"It is the beauty of democracy," Fubara stated. "When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes. I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the State House of Assembly."
This gesture is being viewed by political analysts as a "olive branch" approach, signaling the Governor's intent to prioritize governance and legislative cooperation over the typical "winner-takes-all" political warfare.
