A dark cloud has fallen over the Aminigboko community in Abua/Odual LGA after a routine job turned fatal this past Sunday. Two brothers and a third individual lost their lives while attempting to desilt an old water well. According to reports, the owner of an abandoned well wanted to bring it back into use and contracted two brothers for the job. The situation turned deadly in seconds:
The first brother entered the well to begin work.
He almost immediately began screaming for help.
In a desperate bid to save him, his brother and another person jumped in to assist.
Tragically, all three became trapped and died at the scene. The Rivers State Police Command, through spokesperson CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident. She noted that the police have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death and warned residents to be extremely cautious. "The son of the owner wanted to put the abandoned well into use... Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of their deaths," Iringe-Koko stated.
