The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, has officially fixed the dates for its 44th Convocation Ceremony.
The announcement followed an emergency Senate meeting held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, where the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, confirmed that the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the event schedule.
The Convocation Schedule
To ensure a seamless celebration, the university has split the ceremony into two days:
Friday, May 8, 2026: Award of First Degrees and Prizes.
Saturday, May 9, 2026: Conferment of Postgraduate Degrees.
Academic Milestone: 35 New Professors, 41 Readers
Beyond the graduation news, the University Council has ratified a major promotion exercise, elevating 76 academic staff members. This includes 35 new Professors and 41 Readers across various faculties.

Social Sciences: 8
Administration and Management Sciences: 5
Education: 4

Professor Onuchuku congratulated the newly promoted staff, charging them to provide "academic leadership" and mentor younger colleagues to maintain the university's high standards.
