PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA Motorists and business owners along the airport corridor are celebrating a massive drop in travel times following the full opening of the newly completed 12.2-kilometer Ikwerre Road–Igwuruta–Airport Road.
The major infrastructural project has completely transformed accessibility around the Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA).
The road corridor, which serves as Phase Two of the massive Airport dual carriageway project, features solar-powered street lighting, heavy-duty reinforced concrete shoulders, and a modern tolling infrastructure. Commercial drivers operating out of Omagwa and Ipo communities confirmed this morning, June 4, that the persistent gridlocks and community disruptions that previously plagued the airport route have been completely resolved by the new bypass system.
