In a major blow to illegal petroleum operations in Rivers State, the Nigerian Navy (NNS SOROH) has successfully intercepted a massive cache of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The operation, executed as part of the ongoing Operation DELTA SENTINEL, took place in the Okolomade axis of the Abua-Odual Local Government Area. Naval personnel, acting on tactical intelligence, moved into the dense forest area, where they uncovered sophisticated illegal storage networks.
The Details of the Seizure
According to official reports, the operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 63,290 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel. During the raid, security forces:
Intercepted a transport vehicle linked to the illegal distribution chain.
Discovered multiple concealed storage points cleverly hidden beneath the thick forest vegetation of the Orashi corridor.
This successful raid is part of the Navy's intensified, round-the-clock efforts to dismantle illicit fuel distribution networks that continue to threaten the state’s economy and environment.
Cracking Down on Illicit Networks
The recovery serves as a stern warning to those involved in the illegal refining trade. The Nigerian Navy has reiterated its commitment to securing the region's waterways and land corridors, emphasizing that Operation DELTA SENTINEL will remain aggressive in identifying and destroying clandestine storage sites until these activities are completely neutralized.
