Port Harcourt, are you seeing this? The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially named former Rivers State Governor and Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, as the vice-presidential running mate to Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election.
Following a highly competitive primary season that saw tensions rise within the party, the ADC has now officially locked in this partnership, calling it a "unity ticket" aimed at bridging regional, generational, and political divides across Nigeria.
The party leadership stated that they chose Amaechi for his extensive executive experience, influence across the South-South, and his ability to build coalitions.
This brings up so many questions for us here in the city and across the country:
The "Unity"
Narrative: Do you believe this combination of Atiku’s national experience and Amaechi’s political machinery is exactly what Nigeria needs right now, or is it just business as usual?
ThePrimary Fallout: We saw the disagreements during the primaries do you think the party is actually unified, or is this just a strategy to get everyone back on board?
The 2027 Outlook: Does this make the ADC a serious contender, or are you looking at the race differently?
Whatever your political leanings, this is a major move that just changed the conversation for 2027.
What do you guys think? Are we looking at a winning team, or is the political landscape too fractured for this to work? Drop your honest thoughts in the comments let’s talk! 👇
