RSU Vice-Chancellor Isaac Zeb-Obipi Inaugurates First-Ever Children’s Parliament and Student Choir

In a pioneering move toward fostering inclusion and early leadership development, the Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU), Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has officially inaugurated the 'RSU Children's Parliament' and the 'University Student/Pupil Choir.' The launch took place during a delayed, high-profile celebration on campus where the VC administered the official academic pledge to children drawn from various university-affiliated schools.

The leadership of the newly formed Children's Parliament emerged organically through a democratic selection process among student representatives. Anita Ihugba Wome of the International Secondary School (ISS) emerged as the pioneer Speaker, with Rejoice Amanyie of the RSU Staff School taking the seat of Deputy Speaker. Abinye Jason was selected as Clerk, while Cherish Izeoma joined as a member representative for staff children. Professor Zeb-Obipi stated that this initiative is designed to build confidence, deep public-speaking skills, and active civic participation, providing Port Harcourt youth a structural platform to voice their ideas on community development.
