The fragile peace in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) has suffered a bloody jolt. Residents of Omoku are currently living in palpable fear following a brutal ambush that left four persons including the local Zonal Commander of the security outfit OSPAC and three women dead in a hail of bullets.
The Rivers State Police Command has strongly condemned the carnage, launching an immediate manhunt as panic sweeps across the commercial hub.
A Casual Evening Turned Into a Slaughterhouse
According to local accounts, the gruesome incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. along Oba Road in Omoku.
The Omoku Zonal Commander of the ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), Ozomela Stephen Nwaocha, was reportedly relaxing outside near his residence alongside his sister and her friend. Without warning, heavily armed men suspected to be cultists walked up to the group and opened fire.
The Casualties: Commander Nwaocha and three women died instantly on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Injured: At least two other individuals sustained critical gunshot injuries and are currently battling for their lives in a medical facility.
