In what is unarguably the biggest political seismic shift in Rivers State in recent times, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially declared his total support for the Rainbow Coalition the formidable political movement spearheaded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The Governor made the blockbuster declaration on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt. Declaring that the prolonged and bitter political crisis rocking the state has finally come to an end, Fubara boldly told supporters that he has "returned to the family".
“I Am Back to Our Family”
Addressing a stunned and cheering crowd, Governor Fubara left no room for ambiguity regarding his political alignment as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara stated firmly.
The Governor emphasized that previously contending forces in the state have buried the hatchet, resolving their differences to prioritize peace, unity, and rapid development. Dismissing suggestions that he should stall or play fence-sitter, Fubara insisted his choice was made in the best interest of Rivers people:
The Truce is Real: "I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level."
No Room for Factional Games: Warning political actors against exploiting his name for clandestine divisions, Fubara added, "Don’t go anywhere and say you’re supporting Fubara. No, no, no! My position is this... If you’re not hearing well, use cotton wool to clean your ears. I’m not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state."
Driving Development: The Riven Medical Facility
The political declaration came on the heels of a major economic milestone for the state. Governor Fubara performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Riven Medical Industries Project, a strategic public-private partnership aimed at reviving the moribund medical facility into a world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing hub.
According to the administration, the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory which is projected to produce essential medicines, capsules, and intravenous infusions locally is scheduled for completion within the next three months.
Governor Fubara noted that his administration thoroughly vetted the investors' capacity before throwing its weight behind the project, emphasizing that it will drive industrialization, stimulate economic growth, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the youth of Rivers State.

With Governor Fubara openly aligning with the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition and backing President Bola Tinubu alongside key coalition figures like Hon. Kingsley Chinda, the political landscape in Rivers State has entered a radically new phase.
