The Garden City is officially the epicenter of economic transformation today! The long-awaited Niger Delta Economic & Investment Summit (NEIS 2026) has officially kicked off at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt, drawing policymakers, global investors, development finance institutions, and captains of industry from across the country and beyond.
Organized by the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) in partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), this landmark inaugural edition is built around the theme: “Driving Investment, Innovation & Industrial Growth in the Niger Delta”.
The Big Target: Mobilizing Up to $50 Billion
At the core of NEIS 2026 is an ambitious, highly structured push to mobilize up to $50 billion in investment commitments over the next five years. Rather than relying solely on rhetoric, the summit has positioned itself as a dynamic investment marketplace designed to unlock the region's vast economic potential beyond historical crude oil dependency.
Key Highlights of the Summit:
The Deal Room: Over 30 pre-
screened, bankable, and
investment-ready projects
spanning all nine Niger Delta
states are taking center stage for
direct investor matchmaking.
High-Impact Sectors:
Discussions and panel sessions
are heavily focused on diversifying
into the non-oil
economy including agribusiness
and food security, the blue
economy and maritime industries,
manufacturing, infrastructure
competitiveness, tourism, and the
digital innovation ecosystem.
Job Creation: Organizers have
emphasized that unlocking
these strategic sectors aims to
catalyze pathways for
sustainable regional
industrialization and create over
500,000 direct and indirect jobs for
youth and MSMEs.
High-Profile Stakeholders: The
event features keynote insights
from leading economic voices,
including Access Holdings
Chairman Aigboje Aig-
Imoukhuede, alongside key leaders
from the NDDC, SEC, and major
energy and corporate frameworks.
The Post-Summit Follow-
Through: To ensure
commitments transition
smoothly into reality, the newly
established Niger Delta Investment
Facilitation Office (NDIFO) will
initiate a strict 30-, 60-, and 90-day
post-summit follow-through
framework.
As deliberations continue through September 17, stakeholders are hopeful that NEIS 2026 will birth the proposed Niger Delta Economic Compact a multi-stakeholder roadmap set to permanently redefine the commercial and industrial landscape of our region.
