PLEASURE PARK PROTESTS: WIKE INTERVENES

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has urged people of Rumuola community to support Julius Berger, the contracting firm developing the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park. There had been a protest by some members of the community against the practices of Julius Berger, and to demand for the employment of community people in the project.

Governor Wike assured that the interests of the community will be protected and that the project would help improve the living standards of the people.
Wike said that the project was conceived in order to create employment, boost tourism and attract foreign exchange.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Cyril Dum Wite blamed the protest on the Rumuola community youth body for failing to communicate effectively with other members of the community.
