Police cautions Wike, Rivers government over attack on SARS commander

The Command says it is completely unacceptable for the Rivers state Government to have paid for advertorials on national newspapers, vilifying the SARS Commander and describing him as an election rigger and an enemy of democracy.
The Police in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said the paid advertorial was most unfortunate, adding that the allegations against Akin Fakorede were false.
DSP Omoni also stated that the allegations against Fakorede of recruiting, training and arming Special Sqaud in Kaduna, Abuja and Port Harcourt for the purpose of rigging the 2019 election in Rivers state was equally false.
The statement which described ACP Akin Fakorede as a disciplined officer says the campaign against the SARS commander was I’ll-fated and laced credibility.
“The Rivers state Police Command like all Nigerians, has observed in recent times the paid advertorials in all national newspapers sponsored by the Rivers state Government against a senior officer in the command, ACP Akin Fakorede.
“The command wishes to state categorically that all the allegations laid out in the advertorial including the INEC report are false, malicious and completely unfounded.
“The command finds it most offending and completely unacceptable for the Rivers state Government to refer to one of its principal officers as election rigger and enemy of democracy and wishes to caution the Rivers state Government against actions and statements that are inimical to peace, order and security of the state,” the statement reads.
