Rivers State University of Technology has said that it will be graduating 25 First Class students tomorrow out of the 4,415 graduands.The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Blessing Didia, who disclosed this at the weekend, said all the graduands had been empowered with skills, adding: “This is the highest number of first class graduands ever produced by the university since its inception in 1980.”
He said empowering graduates with skills was vital, as it would help reduce the high level of unemployment in the country.He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to channel more funds to the educational sector to enable it meet up with global standards.He regretted that the budget for the education sector, which is supposed to be 25 per cent, has never been met, stating that improved funding will boost the sector and move the nation forward.
