Port Harcourt, Nigeria - President Bola Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has confirmed that the Port Harcourt Refinery is indeed operational, dispelling rumors and doubts surrounding its status.
Onanuga, who led a fact-finding mission to the refinery, revealed that the facility is currently functioning at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to ramp up production in the near future. He also clarified that the refinery is receiving regular crude oil supplies, contrary to previous claims.
The presidential aide expressed satisfaction with the refinery's condition, commending the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for reviving the once-dormant asset.
This confirmation aligns with the November announcement by NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, who stated that the refinery had commenced operations at 60% capacity, processing 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
