Leading Central African airline Afrijet Business Service (J7) has significantly expanded its network, adding Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and Bangui, Central African Republic, to its list of destinations. This brings their total reach to 16 cities across the region.
The Port Harcourt route officially launched on January 21, 2025, providing a direct link between Libreville, Gabon, and Port Harcourt International Airport. Twice-weekly flights operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Libreville at 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM, and returning from Port Harcourt on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30 PM and 7:15 PM. Starting April 2025, this frequency will double to four flights per week.
Afrijet's General Director, Nyl Moret-Mba, emphasized the importance of this expansion for regional integration, stating that the direct flights between Libreville and both Port Harcourt and Bangui will significantly improve travel by strengthening ties and reducing logistical hurdles. The airline is committed to providing passengers with a faster, more comfortable, and direct travel experience.
The Port Harcourt route utilizes an ATR 72-600 aircraft, offering 8 business class and 54 economy class seats. The 1 hour and 15-minute flight facilitates easy connections to Douala, Pointe-Noire, Port-Gentil, Malabo, and Johannesburg, benefiting oil sector professionals, business travelers, and the Nigerian diaspora in Central Africa.
Following the Port Harcourt launch, Afrijet will inaugurate direct flights between Libreville and Bangui on February 19, 2025. Initially, this route will operate once weekly using a 90-passenger CRJ 900, with departures from Libreville at 3:45 PM and returns from Bangui at 6:30 PM. The Bangui service will also be expanded to three weekly flights from April 2025.
