Port Harcourt, Nigeria — Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation, has honored the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, with an award of appreciation for his efforts in completing the College of Medical Sciences at Rivers State University (RSU).
Amaechi, who was the governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015, initiated the project but could not see it through to completion before his term ended. His successor, Wike, took charge of the project and successfully oversaw its completion, culminating in the matriculation of the college's first cohort of medical students in 2018.
During the induction ceremony for the college's inaugural medical graduates into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Amaechi expressed his gratitude. The college management presented him with the award in recognition of his contributions to educational advancement and his pivotal role in establishing the College of Medical Sciences. Amaechi praised Wike for making the institution a priority and ensuring its successful fulfillment.
