Port Harcourt Woman Arrested of Fatal Stoning in Port Harcourt

A woman has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly killing her 60-year-old neighbor, Augustine, during an altercation in the Railway area of Elekahia, Port Harcourt. The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5th, according to police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko.

While the suspect denies striking Augustine with a stone, claiming he hit her nose and that his children were throwing stones at her, hitting him accidentally as she dodged, an eyewitness account contradicts this.

The eyewitness stated that the altercation began after the woman questioned Augustine about feces she found behind the house. He denied it, saying he had just returned from work and wouldn't do such a thing. The argument escalated, with the woman throwing sand on Augustine. During the ensuing fight, she allegedly picked up a stone and struck him on the head.

The eyewitness confirmed Augustine's death, stating his body was at the Elekahia Police Station. He also reported that they took Augustine to two hospitals that refused treatment before a third hospital confirmed his death.

Iringe-Koko assured residents that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served, urging them to remain calm.
