APC Calls for Thorough Probe into Rivers Assembly Bombing Following Former Official's Claims

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its call for a thorough investigation into the bombing incident that occurred at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on October 29, 2023.

Sir Tony Okocha, the APC Chairman in Rivers State, stated in Abuja on Tuesday that recent public statements by Dr. George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service in Rivers State, support the party's long-held belief that the incident should be investigated.

Dr. Nwaeke reportedly claimed that the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara was behind the bombing and instructed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to carry it out to prevent impeachment proceedings initiated by lawmakers aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike.

The APC argues that Dr. Nwaeke's account, given his former high-ranking position in the state government, should be treated as credible and warrants a serious investigation by security agencies. Dr. Nwaeke also reportedly stated that he witnessed a cash transaction related to the alleged attack.

The APC maintains that it is a strong opposition voice representing the interests of the people of Rivers State and believes these revelations further demonstrate its integrity and its potential to offer a better future for the state.

The party urges the relevant security agencies to conduct a professional and comprehensive investigation into the matter and make the findings public. The APC also stated that it will not be deterred by criticism and will continue to act as a watchdog and provide opposition.
