A Port Harcourt-based pastor, identified as Mr. Elijah and the leader of a new-generation church, has been taken into custody by the Rivers State Police Command. The arrest follows allegations of homosexual activity.
Reports indicate that the arrest occurred after a video was leaked, purportedly showing the pastor in a compromising situation. According to The PUNCH newspaper, the situation arose when a male acquaintance allegedly recorded their interaction without the pastor's knowledge after the pastor reportedly made advances towards him. The acquaintance then reportedly released the video.
An unnamed source stated, "We don’t know how the Octopus Strike Force of the Rivers State Police Command got hold of the video, but they began tracking the pastor. Eventually, acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed him to one of his regular hangouts and arrested him."
During questioning, the pastor allegedly confessed to engaging in similar activities with adults and minors in and outside Port Harcourt.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and stated that the individual has already been brought before the court. "Yes, I can confirm the pastor’s arrest. He is in custody, and investigations are ongoing. In fact, he has already been charged to court," she said.
