The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Port Harcourt Chapter, is spearheading a renewed push for cross-sector collaboration to fast-track digital growth across Rivers State.
In a recent strategic engagement, the Chapter President, Lauretta Davies-Dimkpa, emphasized that the rapid evolution of the global digital landscape requires more than just individual effort; it demands a unified front between government institutions, professional bodies, and the private sector.
The Vision for Digital Excellence
As a global authority in information systems, cybersecurity, and IT governance, ISACA is positioning itself as a central pillar in the region’s digital transformation. The association’s roadmap focuses on three critical areas:
Accelerating Innovation: Leveraging local IT expertise to move from technology consumption to active development and solution-building.
Capacity Building: Developing targeted training programs to equip young people, students, and professionals with high-demand digital skills specifically in Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and risk management.
Bridging the Skills Gap: Strengthening partnerships to ensure that educational curricula and professional development initiatives align with the needs of the modern workforce.
Why It Matters for Port Harcourt
"Leadership is about service," Davies-Dimkpa noted during her recent investiture. By fostering deeper relationships with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation and local technology firms ISACA aims to create a robust ecosystem where digital trust and professional excellence can thrive.
This initiative is seen as a timely response to the increasing demand for data-driven governance and secure digital infrastructure in the South-South region. Increased involvement from local technology firms is expected to not only strengthen local capacity but also create significant employment opportunities for the state's youth population.
Moving Forward
The Port Harcourt Chapter is currently inviting organizations and industry leaders to join this collaborative movement. Plans are already underway to host a series of knowledge-sharing sessions and webinars focused on:
