As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public administration and reposition the state’s bureaucracy for optimal delivery, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially sworn in 12 new Permanent Secretaries.
The high-level inauguration ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, drawing top state officials, civil service heads, and well-wishers.
The Charge: "Do Right to All"
Addressing the newly minted permanent secretaries shortly after administering the oath of office, Governor Fubara reminded them that their ascension to the pinnacle of the civil service managerial cadre is a sacred call to service rather than a tool for personal enrichment.
Emphasizing the weight of their new responsibilities, the Governor charged them to uphold absolute integrity and fairness:
"I do not have any other charge. The charge is the oath you've taken. The oath spells it out. Do right to all every man and woman. Do right to your state and do right to the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
Fubara further noted that their injection into leadership positions across various ministries is designed to enhance institutional efficiency, consolidate the administration's developmental goals, and build a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations.
