📈 Building the Future: Rivers State Unveils N1.85 Trillion "Budget of Resilience"

There is a significant shift in the financial trajectory of Rivers State! Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially presented a landmark N1.85 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the Rivers State House of Assembly.  

Tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” this proposal is being hailed as a people-centered blueprint designed to accelerate the state's progress.  

The Numbers That Matter

The core of this budget is a massive commitment to capital projects, signaling a clear focus on long-term development over immediate recurrent spending.  

Total Budget: N1.854 trillion.  

Capital Expenditure: N1.405 trillion (making up over 75% of the total spend).  

Recurrent Expenditure: N413.1 billion.  

Key Sectoral Highlights

The state government is doubling down on the essentials to improve the quality of life for all residents. The major capital allocations include:  

Works & Infrastructure: N533.32 billion  The highest priority, focusing on completing ongoing road projects, maintaining existing bridges, and launching new infrastructure investments.  

Education: N315 billion  An exceptionally large vote aimed at reshaping the state's education system for better outcomes.  

Healthcare: N105.43 billion  Dedicated to expanding and improving healthcare delivery across the state.  

Governor Fubara emphasized that this budget is about getting the essentials right creating jobs, attracting investment, and ensuring every kobo is spent wisely to help our people flourish.  

As the House of Assembly begins its review, we will be following the process closely. Will this "Budget of Resilience" be the catalyst we need for the next phase of growth in Port Harcourt?
