Residents of Tai Local Government Area, particularly those in and around the Kporghor Community, are advised to remain calm regarding a series of planned, controlled explosions scheduled to take place later this week.
The Rivers State Police Command has officially announced that Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited has been granted approval to dispose of expired explosive materials currently in its custody. This operation has been authorized following a thorough examination of the materials by relevant safety experts.

Dates: The exercise is scheduled to run for three days, from Wednesday, July 8, to Friday, July 10, 2026.
Location: Kporghor Community, Tai Local Government Area.
Personnel: The operation will be executed by specialized operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit based in Port Harcourt.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, has urged members of the public, specifically those residing in the immediate vicinity of the exercise, not to be alarmed by loud or deafening sounds that may emanate from the site during the operation.
The Command has assured the public that all necessary precautionary measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the duration of this exercise. Residents are encouraged to go about their daily activities without fear.
