NCAA Grounds Private Jet Following Unauthorized Road Landing Near Asaba

ASABA, DELTA STATE  The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially grounded a privately operated aircraft and suspended its operator’s Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) following a bizarre and dangerous incident near the Second Niger Bridge.

On the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the aircraft reportedly encountered difficulties while attempting to land at the Asaba Airport. After executing a missed approach, the pilot made an emergency landing on a bypass road currently under construction in the Ogwashi-Uku area.

Key Findings from the NCAA:

Safety: All four crew members on board survived the landing without injury and were transported to Asaba by road.

Unauthorized Departure: The NCAA revealed that, without obtaining any regulatory clearance, the aircraft later took off from the roadway and returned to Lagos. The agency noted that Air Traffic Control was only notified after the plane was already in the air.

Regulatory Action: The aircraft has been grounded in Lagos, the operator’s permit has been suspended, and the flight crew is now under formal regulatory review as the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) launches a full probe.

The incident has raised serious questions about aviation safety protocols and the decision-making process of the flight crew, especially given the proximity of the Asaba Airport to the incident site.
